At the age of 19 at the time, she dropped Here, her first single. The song received praise both from music critics and listeners. The song reached the top spot on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the song one of their Top Songs in 2015. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was one of five songs that reached the top charts on Billboard which included Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as Billboard Hot 100. The track is special since, in light of the Rap-Up interview that she conducted, many of people who listened to her music could connect to her experiences of learning to love themselves and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara's songs often include positive thoughts about mental wellness and the importance of loving oneself. All of it is a result of her personal experiences as she struggled with mental health issues and insomnia. Reuters stated that she calls the album "half tumultuous, half perfected". Her growth was aided by therapy and encourages other people to seek out help when needed. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian musician since 1996. Her parents are of Italian descent. She was given a guitar by her parents after she turned 10 which ignited her passion for music. Three years later at the age of 13 she started covering her most loved songs through YouTube one of the biggest media platforms to show the world that she possessed the talent skills and courage to become a singer. Sweater Weather is among the covers that resulted in her being discovered at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label let her write the songs she wrote herself.
